EPISODE 15 (23 Feb 2009)
WHOA! I just watched the unsubbed version of Episode 15 of Boys Over Flowers and for a moment there i had to check my calendar if it was a Tuesday… THIS EPISODE ROCKED MY SOCKS OFF…
I honestly can say that watching this episode drove me a little crazy… It made me laugh with the old BOF sense of humor that had been missing for quite some time already and cry the next moment and then cry some more…
The scenes between Junpyo and Jandi had me breathless with the extent and depth of emotion that they feel towards each other…
Wow… i almost can feel physically how much pain they are feeling right now because of a separation that did not happen because they fell out of love or because they can’t get along or because of THEM… They had to separate because of other people… And truly, this is the kind of break up that hurts the most…
At some parts of the episode today, i can see how much of the old Junpyo is still present… that scene at the airport was a classic example… He wants to let Jandi go and though he’s being self sacrificing as to go to the extent of hurting her just to make her forget him, he still can’t bear to see her with other people… Jihoo, most of all…
At that point i understand both Jihoo and Jandi’s anger because what Junpyo’s doing, to Jandi’s point of view is quite confusing… It’s as if he had already let her go and yet here he is still acting jealous and proprietary… kind of unfair if you’d ask me … but well, that makes Junpyo, Junpyo…
The breakdown scene at the airport of Junpyo drove daggers into my heart… I know he’s going through hell letting the only girl he love slip through his fingers but i bet being a complete @ss to her in the process is also an issue that’s driving him insane…
As i said previously, i know Junpyo might be hurting Jandi because he knows how much pride she has… She also knows that she is the type to never back down and if she knew the real reason why he broke up with her, he knows her well enough to know that she would insist on fighting for their love together and Junpyo is just protecting her at this point, the best way he knows how…
As for Jandi, her pride and her heart had taken a beating… it took her long and hard to decide if she will indeed get involved with Junpyo because she knows all of the consequences that she would face if ever she does… she put her complete trust and love in Junpyo knowing that he’d always be there for her that’s probably the reason why acceptance comes slowly… Also, who hasn’t been in her shoes? When one’s in love… you tend to get hurt yes but deep inside there’s still a part of you that struggles not to move on and we all know what they went through that’s why it’s a little harder… (that piano playing scene… my gosh! I was sobbing while watching it…)
Now, we even have a previously unknown of fiancee’ making her appearance and that makes things even more complicated for Junpyo and Jandi this time around…
And Jihoo? Oh where to start with Jihoo… my heart aches so much for this man… he deserves someone good and someone warm and someone who can be completely HIS… He’s always had the short end of the stick when it comes to relationships… he shared Suh Hyeon previously with her ambition and now he’s sharing Jandi with one of his best friends…
I know most of the scenes that Jandi and Jihoo shared in this episode was kind of sweet and romantic but to me, it’s also sad… He is really trying his best to make Jandi happy and to cure her broken heart but if only it was that easy… It hurts to see how good they are together and yet there’s also a certainty that this is all they could ever be… Jandi might have Junpyo at the end of it all but man… Jihoo would have to go through a whole different level of heartbreak again once they get back together… Jandi and him are closer now and they shared a lot of things without Junpyo around… Forgetting this time around would be doubly hard than when he openly accepted that Jandi’s feelings for him was nothing more but an infatuation and letting her go to Junpyo who is her one true love…
(in fairness to Jandi, after the botched date that she had with Jihoo, she had always made it clear to him that it’s only Junpyo that’s really in her heart… so to me, she might have been ambiguous at the start but once she’s decided on Junpyo… she stuck to her guns…)
At the end of it all, i felt as if my heart was chopped into pieces, minced, went through a meat grinder and made into hamburger because of the degree of hurt that was so obvious between this two and yet they are the only ones who don’t know how much the other is hurting… As much as i’m enjoying the angst and the agony, my heart can only take so much… I really believe in the saying that True love waits but there is also saying that Waiting is a trap. There will always be reasons to wait. But the only thing that matters are reasons and results, and reasons simply don’t count. SO TO JUNPYO, QUIT MAKING EXCUSES… if you really, really love her, for heavens sake DO SOMETHING!
Mr. PD Man and Ms. Scriptwriter…make him do something… SOON! hehehe!
PS: My only gripe for this episode? They should have let Hyun Joong finish singing Waiting in Macau instead of putting his version of I AM STUPID on… somehow, i feel the scene would have been more touching that way, as if he was really singing to Jandi… but the scene afterwards was fantastic (that scene where they were just staring at each other with all the lights on behind them)and struck a profound chore in my heart… as if it was the first time Jandi was seeing him in a new light and wishing that like him in the past, she could will her heart to love him instead…
